P90X – Day 21 – Stretch X

Flexibility is Key

This was my first time making it all the way through Stretch X. In previous Stretch X days,  there were interruptions that prevented me from finishing. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. By the end of the routine I was able to get further in some of the stretches and my body felt great. The combination of Yoga moves, with ballistic and static stretching really helps break it up. There is constant moving between seated and standing routines.

During the workout Tony mentions flexibility is the key to a long life. I started doing some research and I found one theory that backs up this idea. It talks about how the body is like a rubber band. The old rubber bands that are  dry rotted because they never get used snap the first time you use them. However, if that same rubber band hand been used regularly over the same period of time, it would not snap as easily. Thinking about the workout your body gets with a program like P90X that really makes sense. Keep stretching your body and it will last a lot longer.
