The results are in, I am down 11 pounds! I am proud of hitting that goal and now it is time to re-focus on P90X. This morning was a great re-introduction to P90X. I forgot how much work Core Synergistics is. The sweat was pouring off me by the time I hit Steam Engine. Not to mention difficult. That Plank to Chataranga run is insane. Adam (the ripped dude in the back of the workout) is a mad man! I need to really focus next time and bring it.

Well, tomorrow is another workout and another attempt to do my best.

Do not let the name “Recovery Week” fool you. You are not sitting around watching Tony do stretches for 7 days. You are still working your tail off. Today’s Core Synergistics is a solid routine. I forgot hard it pushes you. Like all the P90X workouts, I enjoy it. However, I can see a lot of people being mislead by the wording “Recovery Week”.

Tomorrow is Kenpo and I have my weight in on Tuesday at work.

Engaged for Round 2

Yesterday morning my X Stretch was cut short due to issues at work. I got a solid 30 minutes in, but would have liked to finish. As part of a fitness program with my work, I get to work out two days a week in a gym with a trainer. Yesterday afternoon he worked our group good. We did a serious set of lawnmowers, leg raises, presses, squats and some jump training. The only thing I did not like was the fact that he did multiple reps w/o rest. So the muscles were completly wasted after word. I prefer to mix it up with different sets. Regardless, it was a solid workout and my knees felt it this morning, which is why I was looking forward to a little core work.

Today was my second round of Core Synergistics which means my recovery week is coming to an end. The first time through Core, I paced myself and really didn’t listen to Tony besides when he was explaining how to do the moves. Today I listened and took note of focusing on engaging my core while doing each routine. From what I understand it is basically flexing your butt and your belly. Sort of like when you force a six pack on your stomach. Only you do it the whole routine even while doing push ups, etc. Really made the routine that much harder.

My first impressions of Core Synergistics this past Saturday were not positive. I thought it was a silly workout and didn’t give it much mind. However, when you engage your core and really push it, this thing is a worker. The one arm push ups, the plank runs, the squat-lift combos. I had a real good sweat going. After the workout I did a quick set of 27 push ups. Really proud of that considering I was pretty beat.

A Brand New Exercise

After 22 days of the same exercise routines, I was excited about a new exercise. That was until I got to the intro of the workout that listed what I needed. I have to admit, I felt like I was on an episode of MacGruber. Here is what you need:

Yoga mat

Tower

Plastic Plate

Stick of bubble gum

Duct tape

And boom goes the dynamite!

Ok, maybe it wasnt that bad, but you do need a plastic plate. Core Synergistics is a butt kicking workout. You are rolling from back to belly a few different times and the weight workouts are no joke. Tony is seriously trying to work every muscle you have. Everything is engaged during the routine. I didnt push extremely hard because I did not know what to expect next. I was still perspiring, but there was a little gas in the tank at the end.

When I first read that this was going to be recovery I was fealing bold. I thought “recovery week, I am 3 weeks into P90X, I don’t need recovery”. However, this has been a really solid week so far and I don’t think it is going let up. Looking forward to stretching tomorrow and more Yoga after that.

For breakfast I tried a chicken scramble. It is basically 6-8 egg whites some chicken and low fat cheese. It was really good and my dogs enjoyed the little bit I left them.
